A New Chapter for Koorong: Joining Hands with Excelsia University College

For nearly 50 years, Koorong has been privileged to serve as Australia’s largest Christian retailer—connecting people across the country with resources that deepen faith, inspire hope, and nurture spiritual growth. We’ve always remained committed to equipping the Church and believers with God-honouring content—Bibles, books, music, gifts, study resources, and more.

Today, we’re excited to share some important news with you—our valued Koorong community.

As of 31 March 2025, Koorong is excited to be part of Excelsia University College, a respected Christian higher education provider with over 40 years of experience in faith-based learning and leadership. This change in ownership marks the beginning of a new season—one that brings renewed opportunity, fresh vision, and a strong commitment to continue serving you with the same great products, the biggest range, and the best service you’ve come to expect.

What does this mean for our customers?

We want to reassure you that nothing changes when it comes to our people or our services. All of our dedicated team members—and the friendly faces you see in-store—remain with us, ready to support and serve you. All outstanding orders, store credits, gift cards, and customer service promises remain in place and will continue to be honoured. Koorong also remains a not-for-profit, for-purpose business—our focus continues to be on serving our community and investing in Kingdom work.

While this means Koorong is no longer under the Bible Society Australia umbrella, we remain deeply connected with BSA and will continue to provide their products and services throughout Koorong to ensure their wonderful missional work can continue to further God’s kingdom. We are incredibly thankful for BSA’s stewardship and support over the past nine years. Their partnership has helped carry the legacy of the founding Bootes family and prepare Koorong for this exciting next chapter.

As the new CEO of Koorong, I’m honoured to step into this role and lead a team of passionate individuals who care deeply about our customers and our future.

I’m looking forward to meeting many of you in person as I visit our stores and listen to your stories, ideas, and feedback. At Koorong, we believe the best way to grow is together—with openness, purpose, and a shared love for God’s Word.

Under Excelsia’s leadership, we’re excited about the future. This partnership opens doors for deeper collaboration, thoughtful new content, and an even stronger connection to the Christian community across Australia. Most importantly, our heart for ministry and mission remains unchanged.
